Tell us a little bit about yourself (family, job, hobbies, interests, etc.).
I’ve been in Texas for just over a year. I moved here on whim: I came to visit my parents over the summer and enrolled my daughter in school that fall. I work in staffing and I absolutely love it; much like CrossFit, it’s a new challenge every day. On the weekends, I’m either on 10-at a concert, out with friends, getting a makeover from my 8 year old or knee-deep in a Netflix binge. There’s really no in between. My favorite color is chartreuse-not to be confused with lime green.
When did you first start training at CrossFit Urban Jungle and what was your first WOD? How was it?
Beginning of August. My first WOD was Excruciating. That’s probably not the actual name, but that’s definitely how it felt.
What is your kryptonite? (least favorite movement)
Snatch, Squat Snatch, anything involving Snatches and pull-ups (ugh)…also running. Please don’t ask me to run anywhere.
Your best ninja skill? (favorite lift/movement)
Box jumps and back squats
What your favorite cheat meal?
Pepperoni-Pineapple Pizza and Baked Ziti
What sort of changes have you seen in your body, health and fitness since starting CrossFit?
Geeze..my mom is not one to give compliments lightly. A few days ago she said “Are you getting chiseled? I think you’re getting chiseled.” Getting “chiseled” wasn’t on my To-Do list, but I’ll take it.Of course she was exaggerating, but the full body picture is making a come back on my social media so I think things are getting pretty serious. I run some now too. It’s still unpleasant and not by choice, but that should be documented somewhere.
Please share with us any favorite CrossFit / CFUJ moments:
Definitely watching a competition. I knew they were a thing, but I’d never seen one before. Aside from seeing CFUJ athletes killing it, seeing all of the support from the other members and even people’s friends and family was awesome.
Any advice for people just getting started or new to CrossFit?
You will surprise yourself and you will be incredibly proud of yourself.

Did I mention that I hate running?
