We recognize that starting a new fitness program can be intimidating. At CrossFit Urban Jungle, you will find people from all walks of life and in every stage of their fitness life! We specialize in helping everyday people achieve their fitness goals –losing 15 pounds, getting that first pull-up, or running your first ½ mile. Whatever your goal, the first step is showing up and starting the first class. Come on in…ask for Daren, Michele, or Mike. But, we expect that one of our friendly athletes will greet you first!
You DO NOT need to be “fit” to start CrossFit. We will start where you are and work with you to establish fitness goals and then meet those goals. If you have browsed CrossFit sites or seen the CrossFit Games, you have probably seen pictures of athletes doing Olympic lifts and looking pretty svelte. We DO NOT expect people to be able to do these lifts when they walk in the door, and most people at CrossFit gyms (also called “boxes”) look like average everyday folks. As with all sports, CrossFit is very proud of their elite competitors, but they are the exception…not the rule. Come in and see for yourself!
On your first visit, we ask that you fill out of a questionnaire to help us understand your fitness needs and any limitations that we need to understand to help us personalize your training. So, if you have a previous shoulder injury or tight hips, that’s okay. Our coaches will work with you to develop the correct form for every exercise and to tailor the workout to your needs.
For your on-ramp (our introductory training sessions), a coach will work with you to ensure that you understand each of the movements in the workout and to assist you in performing the movements with the correct form. We will focus on form until you are comfortable with each movement.
